Viettel High Tech joins international Open RAN Symposium in the U.S. for the first time

Month 10,  10/2024

Recently, Viettel High Technology Industries (VHT) participated in the inaugural International Open RAN Symposium (IORS) held in Colorado, USA. At this event, VHT presented its 5G ecosystem based on Open RAN standards to major telecommunications firms, scientists, and organizations from around the world. Many attendees, previously unaware of Viettel’s role as a network provider, were surprised to learn of Viettel’s mastery over the entire 5G ecosystem. Several companies from Taiwan and Singapore also expressed interest in learning more about Viettel’s capabilities.

Deputy Director of the Broadband Wireless Equipment Research Center, Tran Van Tung shared at the event

As a partner of Qualcomm, Viettel Group received an invitation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to attend the IORS. Viettel’s delegation included Viettel Network Corporation – VTNET, the Group’s Technical Department, and Viettel High Technology. Deputy Director of the Broadband Wireless Device Research Center, Mr. Tran Van Tung, represented VHT at the symposium.

The event brought together representatives from governments, laboratories, companies, and organizations dedicated to Open RAN development from various countries to foster collaboration and solution-sharing among developed and developing markets, particularly in addressing common Open RAN challenges.

Through its participation, Viettel High Technology aimed to connect with international partners, learn about product research, and explore future directions in Open RAN development. In a 3-5 minute presentation as per the symposium guidelines, Viettel High Technology concisely introduced its 5G ecosystem, impressing many attendees with Viettel’s achievements.

While numerous telecommunications companies are researching Open RAN products, few possess a fully-fledged 5G ecosystem meeting Open RAN standards like Viettel High Technology. Globally, only a few well-established companies such as Fujitsu, Mitsu, and Rakuten from Japan have reached this level of expertise, while smaller companies typically only cover simpler aspects.

Through this event, Viettel High Technology hopes to further engage with the Open RAN community in the U.S. and expand opportunities to bring its products to the international market.

In addition to VHT, VTNET also participated in a forum segment for network operators, sharing its perspective on Open RAN.

Viettel High Technology's participation in this specialized international symposium not only reflects global recognition of Viettel’s research and technological prowess in telecommunications but also reaffirms Viettel High Technology’s ability to embrace and adapt to cutting-edge technology and new standards in the telecommunications industry.
