Ambassador Hoang Huu Anh: Viettel at WDS 2026 marks a milestone affirming Vietnam’s technological position

Amid the vibrant atmosphere of World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), the Viettel booth welcomed a special guest — Vietnam’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Hoang Huu Anh. His visit and working session on the opening day were not only a gesture of encouragement for the Viettel delegation, but also brought in-depth diplomatic perspectives on the significance of Vietnam’s presence at one of the world’s largest defense exhibitions.
 

According to Ambassador Hoang Huu Anh, Viettel’s presence at World Defense Show 2026 alone conveys a very clear message.

This is a global-scale defense event that gathers hundreds of defense corporations and enterprises from dozens of countries. In that context, the participation of a Vietnamese enterprise alongside leading global names demonstrates the growing position of Viettel as well as Vietnam’s increasingly affirmed international image.



The Ambassador emphasized that this presence is not only economic or commercial in nature, but also reflects the image of a Vietnam that strives to master technology, remains steadfast on the path of self-reliance and self-strengthening, and is ready to contribute to global peace and security.

From a diplomatic perspective, he noted that Vietnam’s participation in international defense forums is clear evidence of the country’s policy of independence, self-reliance, and proactive international integration. The international community increasingly recognizes Vietnam’s determination to develop and its technological capabilities, and Viettel’s presence at World Defense Show is a vivid demonstration of that progress.

The year 2026 also marks more than two decades since Vietnam and Saudi Arabia established diplomatic relations. According to the Ambassador, bilateral relations are developing positively and more comprehensively, particularly in high technology and defense — sectors with significant cooperation potential.

Viettel’s participation in World Defense Show — an event that receives special attention from Saudi Arabia’s senior leadership — is considered a positive signal opening many new cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

One of the most impressive aspects for the Ambassador was the busy working schedule of the Viettel delegation from the very first days of the exhibition. Many partners from different continents proactively visited the booth to exchange ideas and explore cooperation opportunities. According to him, this shows that the technological capabilities of Viettel in particular and Vietnam in general are attracting increasing interest from the international community.
 

Beyond this event, Ambassador Hoang Huu Anh believes that prospects for cooperation between Vietnam and the Middle East in the coming years are very promising. From investment, trade, education, and culture to defense and security, cooperation opportunities are becoming increasingly diverse and in-depth. Among these, defense cooperation is considered one of the key pillars in strengthening Vietnam’s relations with the Middle East, especially with Saudi Arabia.
